Ave Mariabell Designs: Our Top 10 Highlights in 2016
The New Year is a great time to celebrate your success. Before January finishes and the New-Year vibes escape us, I had to share an appreciation post for 2016. The team at Ave Mariabell Designs believes success can derive from the practice of gratitude. Here are 10 highlights in 2016 that we are so grateful to have achieved.
10. Arts Market
Ave Mariabell Designs is predominately an online store. However to be closely apart of the local artisan community, it was very important to us to have an in-store location. Check out our set-up at Arts Market in Leslieville!
I believe everyone has a compelling story to tell because we are all so unique. Peace Collective encourages the idea of helping others succeed and they do this though the #MyCanada stories published in their Peace Collective blog. It provides a platform for individuals to share their story. I am so happy to have been featured amoung others who share a common love for Canada, and how they have found their passions in this beautiful country.
Alternative Arts has been providing quality custom framing, custom lamination and canvas transfers and a large selection of fine art prints and posters for over 20 years. They carry an extensive selection of Vintage Toronto Photography and Vintage Toronto Maps. The ultra modern and minimalist look of my designs are a nice contrast to their vintage art collection. I feel so blessed to see my work displayed alongside other Toronto local artists.
7. Toronto Markets
As a new small business arising in Toronto, it has been very rewarding to be apart of the local art market scene. It has provided us the opportunity to share our art, meet other local artists and be engaged in the community. Amoung some of our favourite local markets that we have participated in are: Urban Collective, Waterfront Artisan Market, CraveTO, and City Fest Toronto. Check out a time lapse of the 2016 City Fest Toronto event below!
6. Renegades Toronto
The very first event AMD had an opportunity to participate in 2016, was with Renegades Toronto in an Instagram meet-up event. It was at this event we were able to connect with many creatives, and local entrepreneurs. We have since collaborated with many photographers at this event!
5. Decal Installations at local businesses
In order to gain exposure, our humble beginnings took us to local businesses that were willing to collaborate and are proud to represent Toronto.
Brimz – a hat boutique store is where you can find Toronto’s largest selection of locally designed hats. Their hats are loved and worn by Toronto-proud citizens, and our Toronto Skyline decal was a perfect fit for their front door.
Curbside Cycle – is Toronto’s friendliest bike store! Our Toronto skyline decal suited their walls perfectly as it was already adorned with black and white Toronto maps by other local artists. We loved how the product display of the black & white Lazer Blade helmets also complimented the black skyline against the white wall. There is so much beauty in the simplicity of the neutral shades of black and white.
Ave Mariabell Designs loves Toronto and we connect with many Toronto-proud citizens everywhere. It is no wonder we connected so well with director and actor Curt Jaimungal who is as equally passionate about Toronto. He loves Toronto so much, that the city itself plays a staring role in his film, “I’m Okay.” The first microbudget, anti-romantic comedy which is back on the big screen just after Valentines day this year. We are so happy to collaborate with the team at IndieFilmTO to promote an event that helps to shed light on mental health and romance.
3. Wasserman
As a small home-decor and graphic design business, it was a huge milestone for Ave Mariabell Designs to collaborate on a design for a corporate setting. Wasserman is a sports and entertainment company that represent thousands of athletes, broadcasters, coaches and social media influencers around the world. Having already worked with smaller local businesses, it was an absolute pleasure to work with a company connected on a global scale. This is so valuable to us because it is part of our dream to have our designs become internationally recognised.
2. Now-Toronto
Now Toronto Magazine is Toronto’s alternative news and entertainment source which includes up-to-date information on what to do and where to go in Toronto. Everything that is happening in Toronto that is worthwhile; from community events, to concerts; is listed in this magazine! We are elated to have our Toronto Skyline decal featured in their Shop Local Gift Guide! This is huge exposure for our small art business that opened only less than a year ago!
1. Friendships
Lastly, we are most grateful for the many friendships we have built in the last year. Taking the opportunity to share art has opened many friendships in social and professional networks, at a scale we could not have imagined. From large corporations, to small individual vendors, we have built connections we hope that will last a lifetime. Thank you to all the people who have shared and supported our art. We predict to make an even bigger impact for 2017, so keep an eye out!
What have you achieved in 2016 that you are grateful for? We would love to hear about it!
Sincerely,
Ave
